Macatangay & Catapang Law Offices values your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), its Implementing Rules and Regulations, and the issuances of the National Privacy Commission (NPC).

1. Personal data we process

Depending on your relationship with the Firm, we may process:

  • Contact and identity data — name, address, email, telephone number, and government-issued identifiers where required;
  • Engagement data — information you provide about your matter, correspondence, and documents relating to services we render;
  • Website data — information you submit through our contact form, and technical data such as IP address and usage logs; and
  • Compliance data — information needed for conflict checks, client due diligence, and legal or regulatory requirements.

2. Purposes of processing

  • To respond to inquiries and evaluate potential engagements;
  • To provide legal services and manage the client relationship;
  • To comply with legal, regulatory, tax, and professional-responsibility obligations;
  • To administer, secure, and improve our operations and this website; and
  • To establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

3. Legal basis

We process personal data on the bases permitted by Sections 12 and 13 of the Data Privacy Act, including your consent, the performance of or entry into a contract at your request, compliance with a legal obligation, and the legitimate interests of the Firm, subject to your fundamental rights.

4. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell personal data. We may share it, under appropriate safeguards, with service providers acting on our instructions, courts and government authorities where required by law, and professional advisers, and as necessary to provide our services in a particular matter.

5. Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes above and to comply with our legal, regulatory, and professional obligations. When no longer required, data is securely disposed of or anonymized.

6. Security measures

We maintain reasonable and appropriate organizational, physical, and technical security measures designed to protect personal data against loss and unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure.

7. Your rights as a data subject

Under the Data Privacy Act, you have the right to be informed; to access your personal data; to object to processing; to rectify inaccurate data; to erasure or blocking; to data portability; to damages; and to lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission.
